The Great Rift Valley runs through several African countries, creating magnificent rock features along the way. These features are also found in Kenya, and the result is excellent rock climbing opportunities. Mountains, cliffs and interesting rock faces are found throughout the country. Rock climbers especially enjoy Hell’s Gate National Park, where massive rock faces and free standing Fischer’s and Central Towers are prominent. Hell’s gate is only a 90 minutes drive from Nairobi.

Mt Longonot offers an amazing hiking opportunity over a dormant volcano. The volcano covers about 100 square kilometers and is capped by an intact circular crater that stretches nearly two square kilometers. This challenging hike leads you up the edge of the crater, around to the peak and ends where it’s started and offers stunning panoramic views.  The volcano is only an hour from Nairobi and located within the Mt Longonot National Park.

At the foothills of Mt Kenya lies Sagana. And here the Tana River offers amazing white river rafting experiences. The river offers rafting opportunities that cater for different levels of skills and excitement, and is an ideal adventure activity conveniently located only two hours from Nairobi.
 

Antelope Park – Lion Walk

At Antelope Park you have the once in a life time opportunity to walk through the African bush with lions roaming free at your side. The absolute thrill of taking lions ‘for a walk’, without any collars, leashes or fences will be a life changing event for any traveller. A walk lasts for about one and a half hours, with lion cubs from the age of 6 to 18 months.

Lion Feeding

At Antelope Park you can experience the rare sight of lions feeding just a few metres away from you. This intense event takes place as part of important research that takes place at Antelope Park and part of the process of reintroducing them to the wild. See how they prepare and then chase after their pray, gracefully and powerfully devouring their meal.
 

Elephant-back Safari
 
Have an amazing African adventure on the back of an elephant.  While riding on an elephant, try and spot various game from one of the best vantage points.  This is definitely an experience not to miss out on.
 

Night Encounter

During a night encounter you can take part in an experience that only a handful of people will ever experience. At Antelope Park the exclusive Night Encounter will take you on an adventure with the older lions of the park, driving them out into the wild on open-top safari vehicles, where they practice their stalking and hunting skills. Enjoy a front row seat as you watch the King of the Beasts hunt. This is an integral part of the Rehabilitation and Release Programme at the Park.

White Water Rafting

Take on the great Victoria Falls’ Zambezi River, as it plummets into a gorge. Here the placid river above the Falls meet with the turbulent rapids below. The river rafting trip starts at the gorge of over 100 metres deep and ends at over 200 metres. The rugged terrain is filled with thick vegetation and is a beautiful sight to see. Enjoy this adrenaline filled adventure below one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
 

Gorge Swing

Take a ride on a giant swing, 95m long and 120m high, swinging to and fro, high above water, but enjoy the thrill of a 70 drop free-fall before you start swinging The Gorge Swing is suspended across the gorge at the point where it is 316m wide and 120m deep. You are securely attached to a wire with a harness and the jumping ropes are attached to a cable pivoted in the middle. This is definitely not for the fainthearted and an experience you won’t forget.
 

Bungee

Bungee is a classic adrenaline filled activity, but this has the added bonus of being in front of the largest waterfall in the world, and you dangle over the raging torrents and misty gorges of the Zambezi River. You have four seconds of absolute freefall and 111 metres of an adrenaline rush second to none. At the Victoria Falls Bungee, you jump in no-man’s land and partake in an adrenalin experience that is repeatedly voted as one of the top five in the world.
 

Bungee jump or bridge swing at Orlando Towers

At Orlando Towers, you can have the unique experience of bungee jumping or bridge swinging over township. The towers are part of a concept to renew the purpose of the unused Orlando Cooling Towers in Soweto. In 2007 Skiriders turned these towers into a vertical adventure facility. These towers draw adventure enthusiasts to participate in activities like Bungee Jumping, Bridge Swinging and Abseiling.
 

Table Mountain Hiking

For a more adventurous way to reach the top of Table Mountain, skip the Cable Car and rather hike up the mountain. View amazing fynbos along the way and choose a more challenging hike, or a more relaxed one. You can also take the cable car down for the best of both worlds.

Abseiling down Table Mountain

Another adventurous way to experience Table Mountain, is to abseil down 112 metres of descent This is the highest commercial abseil in the world, and is definitely an exhilarating way to take on one of the Seven World Wonders.
 

Shark-cage diving

Shark Cage-Diving is probably one of the most popular activities in South Africa. This is an adrenaline-filled experience that gives you the chance to view the much feared Great White Shark. Have an up close and personal experience from the safety of a lowered cage in the ocean, where the strong and massive – almost 6metres – animals gracefully glide through the waters.
 

Skydiving

Skydiving is an amazing experience, and can be done in tandem for those who are not familiar with the tricks of the trade. The very literal bird’s eye view offers you an amazing way to see the iconic sights of Cape Town
(Table Mountain, Robben Island and a large piece of the coastline), whilst flying through the air and adrenaline pumps through your veins.
 

Sandboarding

Sandboarding in the Cape is a fun and adventurous activity. Here you will learn the basics, to stand up on the board and maintaining balance as you slide down the dunes at high speeds. Definitely an awesome way to spend your morning or afternoon.
